Just as the rings of a tree tell the story of its life, the contours of a mountain highlight its history of upward tectonic movement and erosive shaping. Prominent peaks are centered in a minimalist format, with no elevation markings, water features, or trails. Contours below a certain elevation are removed, letting the peak float freely from the surrounding terrain.
